ShieldSquare provides control of all actions that need to be taken against bots on your site. Following are the Bot Management controls provided :
(1) Generation-wise Bad Bot Management
There are 4 generations of bad bots based on the severity of their impact, detection complexity and human-like behavior
- 1st Generation Bot
- 2nd Generation Bot
- 3rd Generation Bot
- 4th Generation Bot

In the Bot Management page, you will find actions that can be taken against each generation of bot. You can even set bot responses individually for each category of bot classified under a bot generation.
(2) Legitimate Bot Management
You can specify actions to be taken against each category of Legitimate Bot.

(3) URL Management
URL Management allows you to add any URL from your website and take specific actions (such as CAPTCHA, Block, etc,.) for each specific URL.
Adding a URL :
- Go to the URL Management tab in Bot Management page
- Click on 'Add New' button. A pop-up opens
- Add the URL against which you wish to take action. Ensure that the exact URL string is provided and it is a no-Query string. Sample URL : http://www.example.com/ABC/123.html
- Select the action to be taken against the URL (CAPTCHA, Block, Feed Fake Data, Allow)
- 'Submit' your selection
Edit URL :
- Click on 'Edit' button for the URL that you want to edit. A pop-up opens with the current configuration
- Make necessary changes (URL / Actions) and 'Submit' your selection
Delete URL :
- Click on 'Delete' button for the URL. A pop-up opens asking you to confirm your selection.
- Select 'Yes' to delete
NOTE : URL Management is available for only Real-time Active Mode protection.
(4) Block Country / ISP
This allows you to block a specific country or ISP from which you do not want any traffic to come into your site.
Block a country :
- Click on the 'Add Country' button
- Select a country from the list. Only one country is allowed to be submitted at a time.
- 'Submit' your selection
Delete a country :
- Click on the 'Delete' button for the country which you want to delete from your block-list. A pop-up opens asking you to confirm your selection.
- Select 'Yes' to delete
Adding an ISP :
- Click on the 'Add ISP' button
- Paste / Type the exact ISP string which you want to block.
- 'Submit' your selection
We recommend copying the exact ISP name from the Bad Bot Analysis page
Delete an ISP :
- Click on the 'Delete' button for the ISP which you want to delete from your block-list. A pop-up opens asking you to confirm your selection.
- Select 'Yes' to delete
